Many people don't know how to play rmvb files. The RealMedia Variable Bitrate (RMVB) file is file format most recent videos today. Compared with its predecessors, the RMVB file is smaller, but may show a better quality video. RMVB files are commonly found in the files of Asian films and Anime. Although common, RMVB file is not compatible with media players of our time, making it difficult to open or play with current applications.

Materials needed:

• RMVB file
• A compatible application such as Real Player
• Real SuperPass
• Real Alternative
• VLC

Step 1 Choose the program you use to play the RMVB file. Select Real Player Classic if you want the fastest and easiest option. You can get a real SuperPass if you decided to play the RMVB file, and then make a copy of it in a DVD. Real Alternative should be your choice if you simply want to play the RMVB file without actually downloading and installing a Real Player application. Another alternative is VLC player. These application decoders RMVB files.

Step 2Download a copy of the program of your choice. In the meantime, you can download the Real SuperPass 14-day trial version. Remember to download the application compatible with your operating system.

Step 3 Install the application of your choice.

Step 4 Check the file properties RMVB's. you have to be sure that the extension is Rmvb.

Step 5 Turn to the next step if you intend to use the Real Player, Real SuperPass, or Real Alternative. Go to Step 10 if you plan to use VLC.

Step 6 Right click the file RMVB. Select "Open With"and a new dialog box will appear. In this dialog box go to What do you do? Section, after selcting this you should click on 'Choose Program' from a list. Now finally you hae to click on the 'OK'

Step 7 Select Real Player, Real SuperPass, or Real Alternative. If you want to make this as your default then check "Always use the selected program to open this type of file " The effect of checxking this option is . now on it will automatically open any RMVB files using Real Player, Real SuperPass, or Real Alternative. Finally click "OK".

Step 8 If you choose Real Alternative, you may be able to play RMVB files on DirectShow enabled players such as Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player.

Step 9 Open VLC by Selecting the File from main menu.

Step 10 The new window will open, you will see various tabs, select "File" tab.

Step 11 Click the "Browse" button next to the empty open field.

Step 12 RMVB locate the file you want to play. Click "OK". The VLC player will start playback of RMVB.

Step 13 You can also use codec packs to open a RMVB file. Some few codec packs that you can use are the K-Lite Codec Pack X Codec Pack Cole2k Media Codec Pack Advanced, and XP Codec Pack.
